Dermal
Fillers
A
dermal filler is a substance which is injected into the skin to
plump it up, making it firmer and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.
There
are many fillers on the market these days, but the most popular
and in-demand product is Restylane from Medicis Pharmaceuticals.
Restylane is a synthetically produced non-animal product consisting
of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of all our organs
and tissues. Although we will be discussing various dermal fillers
in the training, the product we will be using is Restylane.
Dermal
fillers are extremely safe with a low incidence of allergic reaction.
You can expect some degree of redness and swelling after the treatment,
which usually clears up within 1-2 days.
Dermal
fillers are used to fill out lines and wrinkles around your mouth,
nose, and cheeks and can even be effective for smoothing out scars.
Fillers are very popular for giving the lips a fuller look, and
for giving the lip better definition and reduction in lipstick bleed.
Fillers are also very effective for facial contouring for
example, cheek and chin dimples can be achieved using dermal
fillers to smooth out the hollows and alter the facial contour.
Restylane
typically last six to eight months, but this varies from one person
to another. The filler is gradually broken down and absorbed by
the body, so the lines, wrinkles or lips will gradually return to
their previous appearance without touch-up treatments.
